Yes Man. Well, Maybe.

December 26th 2008 07:40
Yes Man
YES!
So I went and saw Yes Man this past weekend with my girlfriend. I paid for the both of us because I like to make the lady happy. I decided to read some reviews before I went to see the movie, which I don't do often. The reason why is because when I saw the trailer, I wasn't to sure about this film. It seems everybody was giving this movie a poor review. I love Jim Carrey. I'm an actor myself, only in college right now, and most of the people say that I remind them of Mr. Carrey. I was intending to watch this movie no matter what the reviews said.

I always like to give a quick run down about the movie just in case you have no idea what I'm talking about. Jim Carrey plays a man named Carl who is afraid of committing to anything. He never says yes to anything his friends what to do or people on the street may ask. He is depressed most of the time because he is afraid that people may just get bored of him anyway so he just stays detached. A buddy runs into Carl and gets him to attend a seminar about saying yes. Thus begins Carl's life of yes and, this isn't much of a surprise, yes starts to turn his life around. He meets a new girl and work is better and everything seems to be happier in his life.

That's about it. That's why the reviews of this movie are bad. The movie was funny and if you like Jim Carrey you will love watching him being his crazy self. The only problem with the film is there is no tension. You know what is going to happen. When someone asks a question you know he's going to say yes and you know where that's going to lead him. Especially in the scene with the old lady. That was very awkward to watch next to my girlfriend. I pretty sure the whole audience may have gagged a little.

The comedy is great and the actors are very entertaining and up-beat. I never busted out laughing, which I tend to do in most comedies I watch. I would say to wait for the movie to come out on DVD and watch it then. If your a Jim Carrey fan then maybe catch a matinee on a weekend. I have started to say yes a bit more to see if things would turn around...I should be getting out of jail in the next couple of weeks.
