No, I'm not a Marvel fan, but I've seen the movies!

I guess this could fall under WTF. I have never been a big fan of comic books, unless they were, like, Get Along Gang or something cheesy like that. (Am I showing my age, now?) However, I've been drawn into some of the Marvel movies (X-Men, Spiderman 1-3) and I recently saw the latest X-Men movie, Wolverine.
I have to admit, he isn't my favorite character. IN fact, I've always thought he was a bit of an arrogant ass, but I actually liked him in this movie. I don't know. Maybe it was because his film brother was even more of an arrogant ass.
It was intriguing to see how immortal Wolverine really was and how his long life had basically been spent in combat. Perhaps, I would have already known this if I had ever bothered to pick up a comic book. It explained a lot about his gritty personality and gave me new perecption to his character. Okay, maybe he had good reason to be an arrogant ass. I guess if a normal person had to put up with that kind of shit, that person would be an ass, too.
Here's my bitchy rant. It seemed a bit random, though to have backstory on Scott and not the rest of the characters that we had come to know in the first three movies. This is how I look at it. If you're going to focus on one character, focus on one. If you're going to include others, make it a universal prequel. Don't tout it as a movie about one X-Men character to stick others briefly and randomly within the plot. It's misleading and those other characters aren't going to get enough story line to adequately describe their beginnings, thus making their appearance moot.
Okay, enough bitching. Overall, the movie rocked and teh special effects were spectacular on the big screen. And, as a non-Marvel fan, I would definitely add this to my DVD collection.
