Night At The Museum 2: One Soul's Opinion
May 27th 2009 17:47
I guess I'm just a sucker for family movies and so Memorial Day evening found me at the local theater watching Night At the Museum 2.
While it seemed to have escaped the crapola stigma attached to most sequels, it still had its slow moments. I mean, the writer could have removed some lead from the beginning of the film as the pace all but died. However, it still had some great moments and some absolutely wrong humor that made the price of the ticket worth every penny. I won't go into specifics so as not to spoil it for any of you who haven't seen the film yet. I mean, what's the point of buying the ticket if I spout it out verbatim here?
The only real complaint I have is about the brief bit of frat boy humor near the end of the film. There are so many movies out there with guys making rude comments about women and "second base" that I think humankind could have lived without having it in this movie. I mean, sexual humor belongs in this film like a cat belongs in a dog pound. (And now there will be little children across the country asking their parents what it means to go to "second base." Nice. Children haven't grown up fast enough already?)
I guess this movie serves as further proof that I will always gravitate toward the films that critics pan. Hey, I like what I like even if it isn't popular!
