Maverick

Let's play Poker
Maverick puts the "Wild" back into "Wild West" so strap on your spurs and get ready for a ride you'll never forget. Mel Gibson does a wonderful job of portraying Maverick, a fun loving, easy going Poker player who makes his living playing cards. If ever you want a demonstration of a Poker Face then this is where to find it.

Plot Synopsis
The Commodore of the region is hosting a Poker Tournament with an entry fee of $25000 and only 20 players allowed to enter. Maverick thinks he's cut out to win and sets out to prove that he's the best Poke player of all time. Of course, acumulating $25000 isn't easy in the West. Things aren't helped much when it seems like everyone is against Maverick.

But who's really taking who for a ride?

Personal View
Maverick is the kind of movie that you can probably watch more than once. The character interaction between Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster is funny at it's worst and almost downright hilarious at times. But it's the ending to this movie that really gets you kicking yourself for not seeing it coming.

It's a fun loving comedy that is suitable for the whole family and enjoyable for all. Despite being simple it has enough plot twists to keep you on your toes and guessing as to what will happen next.

My Rating : 4.5/5 (Well worth a look at this price)

I whole heartedly agree. This isn't a GREAT movie but certainly a good one. I may sound like fuddy duddy but this is good clean fun!

I was big fan of the James Garner TV show and was hoping for some fun with this one. It had it's moments but overall lacked the charm to make me forgive it's faults....Mel was a good casting choice as Brett but I expected more from Director Richard Donner (Lethal Weapon, Superman, The Goonies etc)

Yeah I imagine when you have expectations from a TV Series that it's hard for the movie to live up to it.

I never saw any of "Maverick" the show, so I didn't really have anything to compare this with.
