Favourite Five Flicks
March 6th 2008 09:32
Ok, everyone has their favourites including me. Althoug I must admit it was rather difficult to narrow them down to 5
. These aren't in any particular order....
Duets
Who'd have thought Karaoke could be this much fun? (apart from making an idiot of oneself)
This was an interesting movie revolving around a world in which Karaoke moved from the 1st timer to the "It's my job" sentimentality. The movie seems to swing between comedy, drama and romance although if I had to pick one Genre I would say drama. It's not a hugely heavy movie but is enough to get you nvolved and has some great character development/interaction.

Rat Race
It's a race?
GO! just GO!
What do you get when you start a race for a million dollars where the contestants are human and the teams are :
- 2 Happy go lucky deadbeat borthers
- A betting dad a family holiday
- Mother (who beleives in an obviously fake clairvoyeunt)with long lost daughter
- A "not quite there" immigrant with no family
I'm not normally someone who enjoys "Silly Humour" but I found this movie rather entertaining and a good watch. Especially when you don't really want to think too hard. Some of the events are a little far fetched but how they intertwine is quite clever.

Stargate
Everything you thought you knew about the Egyptians and their beleifs is about to be challenged.
Many will probably disagree with this one on the list. However, the movie really captured my sense of imagination and my interest in the phenomena that is ancient Egypt. There is still so much we really don't know about that time period in that particular place. Although certainly we are still learning. Stargate was to Egypt what The Matrix was to reality.

Star Wars
A long time ago in a Galaxy Far Far Away....
Iimagine there are a lot of top movie lists that contain Star Wars. It's hard to comp list like this without thinking of the series. The first movie to this day, remains my favourite. Back when I was about 6 we saw this in "Surround Sound" at home. We did this bClue
y using our radio and television with the radio behind us. They were broadcasting the movie on radio and V simultaneously. Back in those days the movie, particularly the effects, were amazing. Its dated well too.

Clue
Whodunnit? Dunno but its fun when the boards not available...
An old favourite that was recently rereleased on DVD. This is the kind of movie I lvoe to pull out when guests are over and it never ceases to entertain. Even for those who've seen it before. It certainly (in my view) beats a lot of current murder mysteries

Honourable Mention
The Matrix
Terminator 2 : Judgement Day
War Games
Any of the old Jackie Chan Movies

Film & TV on DVD
Count me a fan of Clue, I love the murder mystery parodies of the 70's and 80's. Murder By Death, Sleuth, Without a Clue etc all provide solid laughs...I think Murder By Death is my favourite of the genre.
